New Synagogue Birth Registers 1252 births registered between 1771 and 1864 Taken from the microfilmed records created by The Mormon Church of Later Day Saints and available worldwide through their Family History Centres The New Synagogue Birth records were transliterated by a dedicated amateur and edited and transcribed by Angela Shire. The usual caveats about accuracy apply. The database has been prepared in MS Excel and is presented alphabetically by family name, followed by father's forename, and in date order within each family group. Where a father's forename or initial varies within the registration of several children (for example, Soesman Abraham who is variously entered as Soesman, E, and L,) the integrity of the family group is maintained. Under the heading NSB, each record has been assigned a unique reference number, commencing with first letter of the Family Name. Data in square brackets in the columns relating to the child's mother denote that this information does not appear in that particular birth entry but may have appeared in previous or subsequent registrations for the same family, or may have been deduced from other sources: census returns, Jewish Chronicle announcements, etc. The column headed "Parents' Probable Marriage" posits links to couples appearing in either the New Synagogue Marriage (NSM) or Ketubah (NSK) Tables; Great and Western Synagogue Marriage Records (GSM & WSM), or to later, mainly New Synagogue, post civil registration marriages, either from actual records, or the Free BMD indexes. Researchers will need to validate the correlation for themselves. Due to lack of space on the printed page, the final column of additional information, which may include useful census references, name changes, queries on accuracy etc, is not available in PDF format.
