Miscellaneous Abstracts:  Old Bailey trials  from 1674 to the end of December 1799, plus London Gazette records and a few wills (entries marked in yellow).
David Alexander abstracted all the names which appeared to be Jewish (some say they are but not always). Certainly this includes people who are not Jewish and probably some who are have been missed. In some cases David has matched the names with various synagogue lists, but not always. The records are only from the Old Bailey and trials in other parts of England would yield more names. Among the names are 329 persons transported to North America, the Coast of Africa and Australia. A mini Diaspora! English-born Dutch Jews a list of English born Jews abstracted from the Dutch (Akevoth) web site, by David Alexander. The records are for those born before 1800. Click here to download this Excel file.

1863 Appeal: The April 1861 American Civil War blockade of Confederate southern ports ordered by President Abraham Lincoln had a dramatic impact on Lancashire's cotton mills. Their supplies of cotton were cut off, and by November 1862 three fifths of their labour force - some 331,000 men and women were idle. The various "Central Relief Funds" made collections all over Great Britain. The names of various Hebrew Congregations come from the published list in The Times of 10 January 1863. There is no additional information in the published list, but in some cases transcribing the ink-blotched letters has been difficult. This file contains a list of subscribers plus background information and a letter from the Chief Rabbi. Thanks to Nigel Isaacs and Margaret Cambridge. The file is in excel. Miscellaneous 1870s marriage authorisations (provincial books): This set of 33 entries are extracted from three pages of 1870s provincial book authorisations. The Hebrew has been translated by three list members. There are also some entries from the mid 1870s Osborne Street Synagogue authorisations book from Hull.
